Information for Artists Artists' submissions for models to be considered for award for The Tour have re-opened, thanks to continuing support from the community and new sponsors! The purpose of The Tour is to foster cooperation among non-profit organizations on Tybee, to educate people about the plight of at-risk marine populations (particularly, but not exclusively, loggerhead turtles) and to have fun with public art. You are encouraged to get wild with your design, making it whimsical or serious, entertaining or educational! However, the final product will need to be weatherproof and people proof, as it will need to survive on public display outside until the event closes in Fall, 2007. Submissions are made by creating a scale model of a proposal for a turtle based on 12" loggerhead models which are pre-fabricated and available from Gallery by the Sea, by the Visitors Center at the corner of Route 80 and Campbell Street on Tybee Island. Artists will need to sign an application form and agree to return the model in a reasonable period of time. Right now, submissions will be accepted til the end of February only, and they are to be returned to the Gallery by close of business on February 28th. Gallery by the Sea Highway 80 at Campbell Tybee Island, Ga 31328 (912) 786-7979
