Tybee Arts Plein Air Painters (TAPAP)

  • Lazaretto Creek Fishing Pier 1 Old US Hwy 80 Tybee Island, GA, 31328 United States (map)

LOCATION: We will meet at the Public Fishing Pier at Lazaretto Creek off of Hwy 80 at 10am. You may think the place and date sound familiar . That is because this paintout has been scheduled twice before. However, both times were duds. First, we tried to resurrect our Saturday events but nobody showed up but me. So tried to go back on Wednesday and something called Matthew interfered .. Hope no wrecked boats or damaged buildings but our brushes will capture whatever . The area has been scoped out and there was debris that we hope will not be there. Artists must be willing to investigate any interesting sites for inspiration.

FYI :  Parking is FREE here. Turn off of 80 at the Lazaretto Creek sign . There are usually cars parked near the entrance because there is a boat launch there. Go all the way to the end of the road (great marsh views)  The sunny temperate weather is here as well as mosquitoes! Bring bug spray and a hat. Visitors are always welcome.

  • Bring LOTS of WATER and SUNSCREEN. There is some shade but not everywhere
  • Bring a HAT to keep off glare which distorts colors & to protect you from the sun
  • Bring BUG SPRAY
  • Reference photos are handy so bring a camera if you want to
  • Bring plastic bag for trash and take it when you leave

NOTE:   On Saturday, November 5, we have been invited to attend/participate if you wish at the dedication of the new mural on Tybrisa. The event is from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. We should all turn out to get together, let TAPAP presence be seen and take a rare opportunity to do our thing on the street. That means if you want to set up and paint, sit down and sketch or just visit with your fellow artists , come on down.

See you there.
